“Bernie’s classes are incredibly nurturing and easy going.. if you can’t do all the postures, you do what you can and learn to hear what your body is telling you.  Since Bernie started her classes a real yoga community has grown within and between classes here .”

Q. I’ve never done yoga before and I’m not very fit, will I be able to keep up?
Yes, my classes are especially designed to embrace beginners, those with health challenges and mature men and women. There is no pressure to be perfect, just enjoy the class and do what you can. I will ensure your yoga journey is safe, fun and stretching.

Q. What kind of people go to your classes?
My yoga classes are designed so that everyone can take part at their own level.  Previous classes have included pregnant women, women over 70, tri-athletes, men in their 60s and women in the 30-40 age range all enjoying the same set of poses to their individual levels of ability.

Q. What if I have to miss a class?
No problem. Classes are on a drop in, pay as you go basis , or if you have paid in advance you will only be charged when you attend, so just come when it suits.

Q. What if I have  health issues?
Before you join any class we will discuss your needs, previous experience or lack of it, and any health issues>

I will ask you to complete a confidential health check record and in the case of serious health issues permission from your doctor. Health services actively promote yoga for some conditions, recovery, and well-being.

Q. Isn’t yoga just for women?
Guys - the world of Yoga has changed. The number of men now benefiting from Yoga has doubled over the last few years. Lewis hamilton, Ryan Giggs, Andy Murray, Evander Holyfield and the All Blacks are all aspiring Yogis. I currently have male private clients and most of  my yoga group classes have men in them.

Q.  Do I need a yoga mat, other equipment and what do I wear?
I can provide a yoga mat (clinically cleaned) but in the current COVID 19 circumstances it is preferable for you to bring your own. Just wear loose clothing (shorts, leggings, t-shirts etc.) You need to be able to stretch and be comfortable.

Q. How do I pay for classes?

You can pay cash on the day or in advance,  or pay through bank transfer.

Q. I'm not sure if yoga is for me!
Are you Sure ?

There are lots of reasons people can be put off starting yoga , including feeling self concious, suffering from body negativity, having weight issues  or having worries about your age or health.
Whatever your reason for thinking ‘Yoga is not for me’ don’t miss out, have a chat and see if there is a  pathway that would suit you and allow you to be comfortable.
