Impower Horizons Yoga

- Environmental Sustainability Statement

One interpretation of the word 'yoga' is ‘to unite’ and while it may be used to convey a connection to the universe in the ancient Sutras of 2000+ years ago it can perhaps be interpreted in some small part to promote an awareness, understanding and mapping to our natural environment and the way we interact and nurture what we are part of.

Impower Horizons Yoga promotes environmental sustainability in any way possible across the spectrum of yoga activity and tuition e.g. resource and carbon reduction and hopefully students develop a union with their surroundings, settings and environment as well as their inner selves through yoga participation.

Impower Horizons Yoga - Health & Safety

This policy relates to any student/client participation in live online, pre-recorded or face-to-face sessions both outdoors, and at any venue used for lessons.

If you are under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs you must not attend classes and if you have any form of injury or health issue you will need to obtain professional advice from your doctor before participating if you are in any doubt.

Where necessary or appropriate Bernie may make adjustments or alignments to address different levels of experience and ability. Please ensure you always take her advice and speak to her if you feel any pose or flow does not feel safe – you know your body better than anyone. Always follow the safety instructions and listen to your body. Where a movement or session is beyond your experience or ability, feels too difficult for you, or you experience any discomfort, please do not continue the movement or session and talk to Bernie.

Yoga can benefit your overall physical and mental health, and general well-being, but like any form of exercise it can be challenging and so comes with risks e.g. personal injury, aggravation of existing conditions.

You must therefore act responsibly and sensibly at all times and in the same way that our indoor and outdoor lesson venues are risk assessed you must perform this task for Zoom lessons in your own home or elsewhere – suitable safe space, your device is secure, and listen to your body as Bernie may be unable to see you at all times.

In the absence of any negligence or other breach of duty by your teacher, participating in this yoga session is entirely at your own risk.

Before attending any lessons, we require you to complete a health questionnaire which includes a disclaimer. if you choose not to complete the health questionnaire you are doing so with the knowledge that you are participating at your own risk.
